In our final update for 2025, we’d like to reflect on the year that was. We’ve seen some incredible progress in 2025 as part of the Stage 1 works at Ocean Reef Marina.
One of the most significant milestones this year was saying farewell to the old Marine Rescue Whitfords (MRW) and Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club (ORSSC) facilities, as the old facilities were demolished to make way for further construction.
We’d like to take a moment to celebrate these two organisations, whose dedication, passion, and service have shaped our coastline for decades. As the old facilities close, we honour the memories, friendships, and community spirit that made them special.
A new chapter begins
Both organisations have now moved into their modern new facilities at Ocean Reef Marina (as pictured above), ready for a bright new chapter.
We’ll be sharing more information on their official openings in the new year, but in the meantime, thank you to every volunteer, member, and partner for your lasting legacy. In the meantime, take a look at the above video which showcases the special memories of both organisations.

Recreational jetty open!
Make the most of the sunshine and calm conditions this summer with a paddle from our 108‑metre southern holding jetty. Designed with a lower‑level landing, it offers easy access for stand‑up paddle boards, kayaks and other personal watercraft.

The 108‑metre jetty is purpose‑built for adventure — perfect for launching SUPs, kayaks and other small craft, with a lowered landing at the end for easy, fuss‑free access to the water.
Catch of the day
Christmas is just around the corner, and there’s no better centrepiece than fresh seafood!
We were lucky enough to spend a morning out on the water with local fisherman, picking up their top tips for catching Western Rock Lobster (or crayfish as they’re also referred to) just off Ocean Reef Marina. Check out the video here for some tips!
Marina access and coastal shared path update
Access into the marina precinct will continue to change as construction progresses.
December 2025: The temporary pedestrian footpath along Boat Harbour Quays to the new boat ramps and club facilities is now open to the public
Early-mid 2026: The southern section of the coastal shared path linking to Hodges Drive is anticipated to open following key services connections.
The full extent of the coastal shared path through the development will open once Stage 1 works are complete. Please follow all traffic management signage during this period.

Playground equipment and new footpaths are taking shape across the public spaces at Ocean Reef Marina, transforming these future community spaces into places ready for play.
Christmas site closure
Areas of the site still under construction are now closed for operations for two weeks from 20 December to 4 January 2026. These areas were hydromulched in advance of the closure.
Over this period, the site will continue to be monitored with 24-hour security and dust monitors in place, to implement water carts and contingency hydro-mulch applications as needed.
Please continue to call the project information line for all project and marina related enquiries and report urgent matters on 1800 943 121.
