As we move into 2026, momentum continues to build at Ocean Reef Marina, with Stage 1 works progressing and the precinct emerging as a major new coastal destination — including a smarter way to launch boats.

Key infrastructure is now in place, and in late 2025 the Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club (ORSSC) opened its doors to their new clubhouse alongside Marine Rescue Whitfords (MRW), which relocated into a new purpose‑built facility within the marina.

With major construction milestones reached, public spaces taking shape, and new technology on the way to improve the boating experience, read on for the latest progress on site as development continues.

There have been some access changes at Ocean Reef Marina. Entry and exit is now via Hodges Drive, with Boat Harbour Quays access now closed. Please review the below access map for details.

Stage 1 construction progress

Construction across Stage 1 of Ocean Reef Marina continues to advance, with several major milestones achieved.

  • The new access road to the ORSSC and MRW facilities is now open, along with the western section of the adjacent car park.
  • Demolition of the former ORSSC and MRW buildings has been completed, with earthworks in this area nearing completion and underground services being installed.
  • The beach wall is complete, and final sand placement has been finished, supporting the delivery of a protected, family-friendly swimming beach within the marina.

Latest project update video

Take a look at the latest progress works at Ocean Reef Marina in our video below.

Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club commemorate former facility

Late last year, demolition was completed at the former Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club site, marking the end of an important chapter for the community.

Operations have since transitioned into the new club facilities, allowing members to continue gathering and connecting as the precinct evolves.

The video below reflects on the site’s history and its role in shaping the future of Ocean Reef Marina.

From picnic shelters to playgrounds—progress continues

Works are progressing across the precinct, with boardwalks, footpaths, concrete and rammed earth walls advancing throughout the site. A range of picnic shelters and public facilities, including toilets and changerooms, are being installed, alongside works on a new bike pump track and the coastal themed, inclusive playground.

Landscaping has also been finalised in the southern trailer parking area with street lighting progressively being energised. A new playground in the Stage 1 residential precinct is also nearing completion.

Real‑time boat ramp updates and smart parking are coming

OneWiFi & Infrastructure has been appointed as the Smart City Operator for Ocean Reef Marina and will assist in the delivery of Smart City technology and services across the precinct including:

  • The deployment and management of a private communications network to support high-speed and secure connectivity applications for CCTV, public WiFi and EV charging.
  • Smart lighting, Smart rubbish bins and Smart amenities block.
  • Smart parking and associated signage.
  • A bespoke Smart boat ramp notification and signage system.
  • Creation and operation of a Smart City platform and Smart Community app

Smart technologies will enable residents and visitors to make better, informed choices by accessing real-time, transparent information.

The future lifestyle at Ocean Reef Marina

Coastal living isn’t just about where you live – it’s about how life unfolds day to day. From morning walks along the water to time at the beach with the kids and relaxed café visits, Ocean Reef will offer a slower, more connected pace.

In this video, a local resident shares what she enjoys most about living by the coast, offering a glimpse into what life at Ocean Reef Marina may feel like as the precinct continues to take shape. Watch the video here.

Marina infrastructure and access works

Construction continues on key marine infrastructure, including the Destination Basin Edge Wall, with structural works progressing. Finishing works to boat trailer car parking, marine‑adjacent landscaping, and access and wayfinding signage are also ongoing as part of Stage 1 delivery.

Looking ahead

More than five hectares of community accessible open space will ultimately be delivered across the Ocean Reef Marina project.

With Stage 1 civil, marine and landscape works approaching completion, key public amenities are on track to open later this year, including central parkland areas, the bike pump track and the coastal themed beach playground. Planning and design work continues across future stages of the development, encompassing additional marina infrastructure, public spaces and community facilities.

Led by DevelopmentWA, the Ocean Reef Marina project is expected to deliver upon completion around 1,000 new dwellings across a mix of residential and mixed-use sites, with the first Stage 1 residential lots anticipated to be released in mid-2026.
