As spring arrives, Ocean Reef Marina is buzzing with activity – from new boat ramps and waterfront infrastructure to upgraded facilities and family-friendly spaces.

Exciting progress is underway to transform the marina into a world-class residential and tourism destination. Stage 1 works, which began in March 2024, are being delivered by Georgiou Group and are well advanced with civil works for the first stage of the residential precinct now underway.

Eight new boat ramps are now open.

Stage 1 residential precinct construction now underway

The civil works and underground services are continuing across the site to support the entire development, including the exciting milestone of the construction of the first stage of the residential precinct. Electrical, communications, and water infrastructure installation continues to progress steadily. Pavement construction for future roads and car parking areas is also advancing across the site. Concrete works are ongoing along the Destination Basin Edge Wall, forming the waterfront edge of the marina and providing essential structural support.

Family-friendly beach and parklands

Construction of the retaining wall for the family-friendly beach and future terraced lawn area is progressing well. Hardscape works on two public open spaces in the southern area are also underway. Once complete, these spaces will feature: an ocean-themed playground, a bike pump track, and multiple shade shelters for family enjoyment.

Landscaping works are advancing in the southern part of the site, with a large volume of tube stock and trees already planted to support strong establishment ahead of the summer season. Irrigation is being progressively installed and will be supported by a concrete storage tank, replenished via an underground bore.

Access roads and paths

A newly constructed roundabout west of the existing Ocean Reef Road and Hodges Drive intersection is now open, providing access to Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club (ORSSC) and Marine Rescue Whitfords (MRW). This enables continued works across the development, including new road infrastructure and pavement construction, which will progressively connect to the future road network within the marina. Newly installed street lighting will be commissioned in the coming months, illuminating the new boat ramps and public car parking areas. Underground services are progressing to support this new infrastructure.

ORSSC and MRW on track to open soon

Construction of the new facilities for both ORSSC and MRW are progressing well. A private service road to access these new facilities, including car parking areas, are nearing completion to support their upcoming openings. More details will be shared with members and the broader community in the coming months.

What’s next?

Over the coming months, expect to see further progress on landscaping, public amenities, and the final touches to the new ORSSC and MRW facilities. These upgrades are designed to enhance community access, support local marine activities, and create vibrant spaces for residents and visitors alike.

We’ll also see more lighting installed for the new boat ramps and soon, smart boat ramp features will come online.

As we move into the warmer months, the focus will shift to finalising public open spaces and landscape areas; commissioning street lighting and irrigation systems; continued construction of the first stage of the residential precinct; and continuing road and path connections across the precinct. Stay tuned for updates as the new spaces come to life.
