Significant progress has been made across the Ocean Reef Marina development by Georgiou Group, with notable milestones achieved.
- Family beach construction: More than 7,500 tonnes of beach sand will be used to create a shark-net protected family beach, providing a safe and enjoyable area for visitors.
- Boat trailer car park: Pavement installation is progressing in the permanent boat trailer car park, following its partial opening on 28 October. Streetlighting is scheduled for installation early next year.
- Destination Basin Edge Wall: Construction of the support wall along the water’s edge continues. Temporary preparation works, including Rapid Impact Compaction (RIC) to stabilise the ground, are also ongoing to support future waterfront development.

- Community open space and family-friendly beach: Earthworks and underground service installation (electrical, sewer, and stormwater drainage) are underway. This includes 1,500m of power lines and 50m of sewerage pipe.
- Commercial and residential areas: Underground services are being installed to prepare these areas for future development.

Christmas site closure
The site will close for operations from 21 December to 5 January. During this period:
- The site has been hydromulched to minimise dust.
- 24-hour security and dust monitoring will remain active, with water carts and additional hydro-mulch applications deployed if necessary.
For urgent issues during the closure, please contact the project information line at 1800 943 121.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to bring this exciting development to life!
Boat ramp progress
Cascada, contracted by Georgiou to produce the infrastructure for the boat ramps, has completed the production of 152 boat ramp slabs. The slabs, which will form four boat ramps, comprising 38 slabs each, were manufactured at Cascada’s Malaga facility and delivered to the site ahead of schedule.
To achieve the required diamond pattern on the surface, the slabs were cast upside down in specially designed moulds. Once the concrete had set, the slabs were rotated 180 degrees using gantry cranes to prepare them for transport and installation. These precast panels are currently being installed on-site.

What’s next?
Boat ramp construction is continuing with four new ramps set to open in February/March after closing the four existing ramps to allow demolition. Precast panels are being placed now along with piling for the future jetties. Further details will be provided in the next Construction Update.
Marine Rescue Whitfords and Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club update
Byte Construct continues to make strong progress on both the new buildings for Marine Rescue Whitfords and Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club/Joondalup City RSL.
Preparation is underway for the first-floor suspended slab of the Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club, scheduled for pouring on 20 December 2024. Formwork is complete, the bottom mat of steel is being laid, and service prelays will follow, with the top mat of steel to finish. With December being a shorter month, Byte are on schedule to achieve key milestones before closing over the break from 20 December 2024 to 6 January 2025.
Meanwhile, blockwork is being finalised, and formwork deck installation is starting for Marine Rescue Whitfords, with the slab pour scheduled for late January 2025.
