Major updates
This year saw massive progress at the Ocean Reef Marina site. With Georgiou Group working on Stage 1 of the project, and Byte Construct building the new Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club/Joondalup City RSL and Marine Rescue Whitfords facilities, lots of milestones were reached. You can click through to read the latest construction news here.
Access to the marina will continue to change over the next few months. Find out details about access, shared paths, and site closures here.
Marina Access Update
Access to the marina will continue to change over the coming months to support ongoing construction progress.
- Current access: Boat Harbour Quays
- From early 2026: Access will shift to Hodges Drive
Please follow all traffic management signage while works and additional parking areas are completed. See the infographic below for details.
Coastal Shared Path
The coastal shared path through the development is anticipated to open in the southern section in early to mid-2026. While some areas may look complete, ongoing underground service works mean they remain unsafe for public access. Please check the project website and social media for updates on pedestrian and cycling access.
DevelopmentWA and Georgiou Group are committed to staging construction activities to enable safe pedestrian and cyclist movement ahead of Stage 1 completion, which is currently anticipated in mid-2026. This includes:
December 2025: The temporary pedestrian footpath along Boat Harbour Quays to the new boat ramps and club facilities is now open to the public.
Early-mid 2026: The southern section of the coastal shared path linking to Hodges Drive is anticipated to open following key services connections.
The full extent of the coastal shared path through the development will open once Stage 1 works are complete. Please follow all traffic management signage during this period.
The full coastal shared path will only open upon completion of Stage 1 works to ensure the entire route is fully constructed and safe.
Christmas Site Closure
Areas of the site still under construction will close for two weeks from 20 December to 4 January 2026. These areas will be hydro-mulched before the closure.
During this period:
- 24-hour security will monitor the site
- Dust monitors will remain active
- Water carts and contingency hydro-mulch applications will be implemented as needed

New boat ramps opened in late July!
Works on the new boat ramps are now complete, with all eight ramps open!
A big thank you to all boat users for your patience during construction.
Here’s what’s new:
• Longer jetties – the new 65m jetties are at least 24m longer than before, offering more space to launch and retrieve vessels.
• Extended ramps – built beyond Australian Standard depth requirements to suit a wider range of vessels.
• Deeper ramp toe – now 1.46m below the lowest astronomical tide (standard is 1.2m for deep-draft vessels).
• Southern jetty upgrade – now 108m long with space for temporary mooring of small craft, including a dedicated kayak launch and retrieval area.
Minor works will continue over the next few weeks to install additional lighting, complete landscaping, and final touches.
Over the coming months, some ramps will temporarily close to allow for final in-water works. Please follow all signage during the short-term closures.
