From classroom to coast: student art unveiled at Ocean Reef Marina

This month, 40 talented Year 11 students from Ocean Reef Senior High School helped unveil their own ocean-themed artwork now featured along the footpath to the breakwaters at Ocean Reef Marina.

The project began in 2024 after a visit to the school sparked a creative collaboration, giving students a real-world opportunity to leave their mark on the precinct.

There was plenty of pride and excitement on the day — with students and parents already looking forward to more ways they can help shape the future of the marina.

With the cooler weather, it’s the perfect time to head down to the marina and check-out the artwork. You’ll find the decals along the path next to the boat ramps!

Safeguarding the coast: Marine Rescue Whitfords

Every journey on the water begins with peace of mind and that starts with community. For decades, Marine Rescue Whitfords (MRW) has helped keep our coastline safe, supporting local boaters and responding when it matters most.

As Ocean Reef Marina evolves into one of WA’s most exciting coastal communities, we’re proud to welcome a new MRWand Marina Manager building – purpose built to support their vital work for years to come. We caught up with some of the MRW volunteers recently to find out more about their work. Check out the video reel here.

Landscaping works to begin this winter

As the visionary landscape architect from UDLA, Shea is bringing the natural beauty of the coast to life — designing spaces that blend seamlessly with the shoreline and enrich everyday living.

Think native flora, expansive parklands, and inviting spaces designed for connection, relaxation and exploration.

With a strong focus on sustainability and resilience, every plant is handpicked to thrive by the sea — supporting local biodiversity and creating a lush, low-impact environment.

From shady lawns to breezy seaside strolls, the future of outdoor living at Ocean Reef Marina begins to take shape this winter. Check out this video we did with Shea to learn more about the landscaping plans.
