Work is underway for the family beach at Ocean Reef Marina in the City of Joondalup. This project, proudly being delivered by DevelopmentWA, is set to become one of Western Australia’s most iconic coastal destinations and will transform the Perth coastline!
This is also the first step in the construction of a world class recreational zone, which will also feature Perth’s first coastal 50 metre pool.
With more than 7,500 tonnes of sand to be put into place, the new beach and pool are on track for a 2026 opening, transforming the area into a vibrant hub for water-based activities. Both the beach and pool will be protected by a shark net to create a safe family-friendly landmark attraction for all residents and visitors.

In addition, five hectares of community-accessible open space and recreation reserves will include landscaped parklands, walking trails, and purpose-built recreational areas, enhanced with native plants to promote biodiversity.
At its heart will be a vibrant ocean-themed Beach Playground, inspired by the area’s maritime heritage. Featuring engaging elements like a giant lobster, boats, and waves, the playground will offer shaded seating, changerooms, and inclusive features for children of all abilities. A nearby bike pump track and expansive central parklands are also underway, forming part of Stage 1 works led by Georgiou Group.

Construction of the new headquarters for Marine Rescue Whitfords (MRW) and new facilities for the Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club (ORSSC), being delivered by Byte Construct, are also on track for delivery in 2025.

The MRW facility, a purpose-built two-storey building, will integrate training, administration, and equipment spaces, along with state-of-the-art communication systems. For the first time, three rescue vessels will be permanently moored at the marina, ensuring rapid response capabilities and bolstering safety for northern metro water users.

The ORSSC’s new clubhouse will elevate member and community experiences with upgraded dining, bar, and club amenities, alongside enhanced spaces for diving, angling, and sailing. Once completed, Ocean Reef Marina will be the premier waterfront precinct and a key tourism destination for Western Australia. This transformative project will elevate the community’s quality of life while catalysing economic growth, underscoring Perth’s esteemed reputation as one of the world’s most liveable cities.
